the well

If you find yourself burdened down, anxious or worried about any area of your life, God wants you to know you were never meant to handle everything on your own.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 NIV

Consider the things that weigh down our hearts and minds: death, loss, illness, debt or financial hardships, martial tension, care of aging family, guilt, addiction, work stress, unforgiveness, doubt, sin, family division, depression, fear, social anxiety, broken relationships. Regardless of the burden or its origin, we carry them. Pray about your burden(s) and release it to God, knowing He has promised to take care of you.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 NIV

Ask God to show you if there’s anything He's asking you to do, then leave the rest to Him.

Jesus prayed, "My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will." Matthew 26:39 NIV

To help you release your burden, use a piece of paper and a marker provided to write down a few words.  Place the paper in the water. Pray as you watch the paper dissolve.

Dear Heavenly Father, I bring to You my burdens. You know my situation. You know my sorrow and anxious thoughts. Help me surrender it all to You, Lord. I release the burdens I have been carrying to You, Jesus. You know I can’t make it without you. Change the desires of my heart. Help me trust you with all my heart, mind and soul. Teach me to lean on your understanding and submit my ways to You. Comfort my heart, give me your strength and peace. I submit to Your will, Your authority, Your timing.  I praise You for Your promises to sustain me, preserve me and guard all that I have entrusted to Your keeping. I thank you for your peace, strength and understanding.  Father may Your will be done in my life.  In Jesus precious name, Amen.
