At Plum Creek, we are learning to follow Jesus. When we look at the life of Jesus, we see someone who cared about his neighbors and sacrificed to serve them. We are seeking ways to do the same.
We know school staff are special people in our community. You share a passion for helping neighbors, too. That’s what you do every day! Sacrifice to serve kids and families. We have been thinking about how we could BEST serve our community through this uncertain time of Covid-19. It seems obvious to us that we are uniquely positioned to help our schools do a great job of educating children.
Here is what we have in mind. Any staff member at
Grant’s Lick Elementary or Reiley Elementary may bring their school age
children (1st – 8th grade) to Plum Creek on
virtual-hybrid days. For example, if your child is on Schedule A
(attending school in-person on Monday and Tuesday), we will provide NTI help
for those students on Thursday and Friday. If your child is on Schedule B
(attending school in-person on Thursday and Friday), we will provide NTI help
for those students on Monday and Tuesday. This will be at no
cost to school staff.
We are doing this to help school staff best serve the families of our community and not have to worry about how their own children’s NTI needs will be met. We want to serve you so you can serve our neighbors!
We have hired a certified teacher to lead the program (Valerie Trapp). Our goal is to help your children have the support needed to accomplish NTI on those difficult days for school staff. We will ensure their work is complete and that they have a safe and fun learning environment. Our goal is you will be able to enjoy your evenings knowing their work is complete!
We are partnering with our day care (Kids at the Creek), Children’s Ministry, Student Ministry, and other church volunteers to make this experience great for parents and kids. On your assigned days, you may drop off your children at 7 AM. We will strictly follow our current Covid-19 policies (sanitizing, temperature checks, hand washing, social distancing, and masks). We ask that you pick up your children immediately after school (4 PM). We will not accept children on Wednesdays so we can disinfect the rooms between groups.
We will provide USDA meals for each child in attendance (breakfast, lunch, snack) each day. We are asking parents to not pack meals as this could pose a threat of contamination or allergy issues. If your child has an allergy, we will make accommodations.
We expect to separate into classrooms of no more than ten children each (the same children each day). We will have a volunteer or staff member (working with instruction from Mrs. Trapp) lead the room. This room leader will be there to help each child accomplish their NTI work for the day.
We have adequate internet capabilities for hosting.
If you are in a kindergarten classroom or have a kindergarten student, please complete the form below and contact me to discuss how we can meet your unique needs.
I’m certain you have lots of questions about this
program. Please remember that we are working to get everything in place
as quickly as possible. We are reacting to the news of the hybrid
model. We had our first planning meeting today.
We would like for you to complete the form located at he bottom of this page. Please complete this form by Monday, July 27, midnight. This will give us a head start on the planning process. Completing the form does not commit you to anything.
We would like you to commit to attending a “Registration Night” on Tuesday, August 4th, 7 PM. We will be able to share a registration packet, give you a chance to see the space where your children will be working, and answer your questions. Your children are welcome to join us on August 4th.
These times are uncertain for all of us. Plum Creek is making a commitment to do this for our school staff through December 2020. At that time, we will re-evaluate the program and make plans for the beginning of 2021. We will be sure to communicate our plans for this throughout the fall.
If you have immediate questions, don’t hesitate to contact me:
I may not have all the answers yet, but we will work on it.
We know our great schools and staff are part of what makes our community great. You are our heroes! It’s an honor to have the opportunity to serve you as you serve our neighbors through the pandemic. Thanks again for all you do to serve kids and families. We can’t wait to meet you!
